Two Apples and Hand Wash Stolen

LAHORE – Police in Lahore have registered a theft case after two apples and a bottle of hand wash were stolen from an additional sessions judge’s chamber. The unusual incident was reported at Islampura Police Station on December 5. The stolen items were valued at Rs1,000. The case marks the first of its kind within court premises.

The judge’s reader filed the complaint, prompting police to initiate proceedings under Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code. This section addresses theft in buildings used for the custody of property. The case was formally registered by Lahore Police, who have begun investigating the matter.

A legal expert explained that Section 380 can result in a maximum sentence of seven years, a fine, or both. The lawyer emphasized that the law applies equally, regardless of the value of the stolen goods. The expert also stressed that the justice system must ensure consistency in its treatment of all crimes.

Court staff noted that this is the first reported theft of such minor items from a judge’s chamber. Despite the low monetary value, the filing of an FIR highlights the court’s commitment to maintaining security and the sanctity of its premises. Police are currently investigating the case.

The unusual theft has raised questions about the security of courtrooms and the enforcement of laws in public spaces. Investigations are ongoing as authorities take this unprecedented theft seriously, setting a precedent for similar cases in the future.
